PTO Position Roles

Please read all descriptions below to see which position you may be interested in for the PTO Board. 

Overview for all Positions

ALL PTO Board members are expected to attend monthly board meetings and any general session meetings. Members are also expected to assist with fundraising and volunteer events which include (but are not limited to): Fall Festival, Merry Market, Teacher Treats, Snack Attack, and Kona Ice  (either during the day or at night, exceptions are made for day time events for those who work full-time/40 hours or more).

 

A board member must “attend” 75% of these functions to remain in good standing. Attendance also includes staying in good communication with Tier One board members, following up with meeting notes (must be able to use Zoom/Google Docs/email and respond in a reasonable amount of time) if unable to physically attend or listen in via conference call.  

Tier One Positions:

President

PTO President plans and presides over all PTO meetings and functions, coordinates the work of the officers and committees, serves as a liaison between school administrators and PTO executive board, provides representation of the PTO at all appropriate functions and is available to work any PTO function where money is handled. Will also assist w/ role of Parliamentarian.

Vice President

VP assists the President in above mentioned duties, and shall represent the PTO as delegated by the president or in the absence of the president and is available to work any PTO function where money is handled. Will also assist w/ role of Parliamentarian.

Treasurer

 Treasurer keeps an accurate account of all income and expenditures, verifies statements with the school bookkeeper, presents financial statements at each executive board meeting and general PTO meetings, and is available to work any PTO function where money is handled. Will also assist w/ role of Parliamentarian.

Secretary

Secretary records and reads the minutes of all PTO meetings, notifies board members of the executive board meetings, notifies the PTO membership at large of general meetings, and assists the president in tracking board member attendance and participation. 

Fundraising Chair 

 responsible for organizing the fundraising detailas of all PTO sponsored fundraisers, including coordinating Spirit Nights and soliciting funds from local businesses for donations. 

Room Parent Coordinator

coordinates all room parent activities, responsible for managing and distributing teacher/staff favorite lists, sets up welcome meeting for Room Parents at beginning of the year and works with Room Parent Chairperson and Creative Art Director for Teacher Appreciation Week.  

Room Parent Chairperson

works with teachers to select a homeroom parent for each class, provides training to homeroom parents and provides support to the Room Parent Coordinator for all school and PTO sponsored events and projects. *

Volunteer Coordinator

 recruits and organizes all volunteers necessary to assist with daily school functions and all PTO sponsored events via SignUpGenius, emails and/or phone. *

VIP Reps

works with the VIP coordinator by helping recruit necessary volunteers for events, assists with making copies and providing other tasks as deemed necessary to meet the schools volunteer needs. *

Specialty Committee Chairs

Responsible for duties of committees such as fall festival, spring fling, Santa Shop, concessions, or other activities sponsored or assisted with by the PTO.  Includes Box Top Coordinator, Grands Group Rep and Creative Art Director  (may be filled by a grandparent or parent)*
